Hugh is a freelance music producer, mixer and engineer based in London. Growing up on a diet of Paul Simon, The Beatles & Hendrix, he cut his teeth as the in-house engineer at The Dairy Studios in Brixton, following his degree in Music Production at the University of Huddersfield (BSc Popular Music Production 2012). Since his transition to freelance work in 2015 he has developed his expertise and style working in studios across the UK & Europe with a wealth of producers, writers & artists.
In 2014 Hugh began working with producer/writer Craigie Dodds, and together they have worked with a range of artists & projects including Petite Meller, One EskimO, Eliza Doolittle, Alex Hepburn, Tokio Myers, Est-Her, and documentary film soundtracks for, amongst others, Nelson Mandela Redrawn and Shaun the Sheep Movie.
As a freelance record producer and engineer Hugh regularly works across genres, collaborating with and developing new as well as established artists. His production style always centres around the artist, working closely with them to find their own unique sound.
Hugh is currently based out of his own professional studio at The Assault and Battery complex in Willesden Green.
Alongside his production/mixing work Hugh also writes, produces and performs with the band KYLYPSO releasing music & playing regular live shows across London. Using Ableton in conjunction with live instrumentation the band create an involving & interesting live show.
